About book What The Heart Needs (2000)

Kelli McCracken has done it again! What the Heart Wants Wants was my first ever paranormal book I've read as I'm not into them at all but what sucked me in was 'soulmates' as I'm strong believer in them so thought I would give it a go and I'm so glad I did! I adored the first book but this one made me happy, sad, have goosebumps, cry, and a series of happy dances all at the same time! I was unsure of Layne at the beginning but he won me over. I.LOVE.HIM. I love how Heaven and Dylan were born to be together and love how you get to hear more of how they were destined for each other as the book goes on. I hated Faith more then I liked her but am wondering if it's all an act and she actually may have a heart after all so hoping to hear more about why she's such a biatch! The writing is done beautifully and you truly believe the love these two share. I just love everything about them. I was late for my doctors appointment reading this book needing to know what happens next and can't wait for the 3rd book. One of my favourite series. I miss them already. Well done Kelli McCracken you are amazing! Ps I hate Nate. The end. This is the second book in the Soulmate series of Kelli McCracken. And because I can't give it 3 1/2 stars, I'm giving it 4. I'm a little disappointed in the execution of some of the events in the book. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I loved nearly every word of it.However, I feel that there was more emphasis placed on the feeling of suspense in the novel than actually getting to the point of what this book was about. There were many things that were dropped on the reader that weren't really hinted to in the first book. Which is actually one thing I really loved. I loved how Mrs. McCracken went deeper into the characters. We see so much more of the characters in the story. Getting more in tuned with their thoughts while discovering a little more about the psychic abilities everyone had. There were numerous hints in the book and by the time it ended, I had already figured everything out and was just waiting for the story to unfold to my suspicions. This is what I think played into me not feeling satisfied. That and there just wasn't enough of some of the new stuff Mrs. McCracken brought in.I felt like I could have read more. I wanted to read more. To me, there wasn't much closure.I want the next book.I want to know what happens next.I feel like there is something big Mrs. McCracken is building up to and it makes me want to keep reading more. But there isn't any more! And although I'm not an expert on sex scenes, there's a lot in this book (at least it felt like it to me), and though they were done naturally throughout the plot and for the characters, I did feel like some of it was a bit awkward. All in all, this was a great read. It continued from the first with little confusion and, as I've mentioned, left me wanting more. I definitely will be buying the next book in this series. I'm invested in the story. I want to know what happens next! This review will also be available on my site and Amazon.
