Such an oh so frustrating book. In spite of the implausible beginning this story had the potential to go somewhere and take the reader to mysterious places. It failed to do so. Many of the sex scenes were also disappointing. You'd think it would be possible to make them seem a little more exciting than washing the dishes in the way they are described, the language that is used and the mood they evoke. And yet, for that promise and potential I do not want to trash this book. This is a sexy story of a woman's need and self discovery. I loved the struggle of the female lead! Julia is a strong, intelligent, and fiercely independent woman. She craves a strong, dominant man, but fears her desire makes her weak. Julia wrestles with her feminist ideals and socially acceptable roles, but ultimately finds the courage to explore, and finally embrace, what she wants and needs to be happy. She learns submission to the right man does not make her weak, but rather completes her in ways she never dreamed possible. Marcus is her strong, impossibly sexy Dom. He is mouth wateringly hot!! Great fantasy material.
