About book A Groom Of One's Own (2010)

It started out nicely, interesting in fact. But as the story goes, it became irritating. The heroine is constantly being contrary to what she say now and what she will say later. For instance, she's being guilty for Clarissa, thinking to not starve for Lord Bradon but scanning the crowd for a glimpse of him. It was supposed to be heartbreakingly good but it reduced to irritation. It would be nice to make it more tragic, I'm expecting more emotions from the characters. Not a good one, if I would rate it as a whole. I keep on giving it a chance to prove me wrong but I end reading it at the middle part. I truly enjoyed the flow of this book. It kept me quite interested. The characters were charming and intriguing. There were sweet moments I enjoyed. The little bits of angst based on the forbidden lovers was nice.As I saw in another review, this is definitely written with more of a modern voice. I felt as if was reading a contemporary book within a historical play.Closer to the end I started to get frustrated with Brandon 's stubborn honor. However the ending was such a delight I got past it.I do plan to read the rest of the books in this series.

Fun Just-barely-Post-Regency Romance. That's all I ask for and boy, did I get it!
