In the end the mix match group of animal friends band together using team work and determination to find their poor lost friend Bear.The book is an excellent choice for any teacher who is looking for an age appropriate way to discuss the issues of fear, teamwork, friendship, and empathy. The bears emotions of fear and desperation is something any child can relate to and the artist’s depiction of bear’s facial expressions reach out to the young audience and give them something to grab ahold of. Most young students can relate to feeling so afraid or overwhelmed that they just give up. The story can be used to show students that it is ok to feel scared and sometimes their are problems in life which are to big for us to handle alone and require the help of our friends. Usually the bear is the scary animal, but in this book, the bear is lost and scared. And all his little friends have to go out and search for him. This book teaches children about friendship. We can talk about different things that we can do for a friend. We can talk about feelings thqt children might. Have. What do they do when they are scared? This book an open many great discussion with children.
