About book Blutwelten. Alles über Die Welt Von Rachel Morgan (2012)

Keep in mind that The Hollows Insider is reference book of things we already know, before buying this book. If you're expecting new and/or earth shattering revelations you'll be sorely disappointed. What you WILL get is a highly detailed and entertaining read that sums up why this world is so amazing. Kim Harrisson has really done her homework with this one. Everything is presented in a beautiful book. The graphics are excellent, the fact sheets entertaining, some of the observations are funny as hell. Additionally, there are sketches of every major character in the Hollows and I generally liked them a whole lot more than the representations in her graphic novels. (With the exception of Trent. That’s NOT how I envisioned him at all.)Instead of presenting us with a list of dry facts (if that's even possible) we learn everything from Devin: A man who was caught in the crossfire when Rachel was still working as an I.S runner. (The poor guy got all his hair singed off by, and oh boy, did that piss him off.) Now he's on a one man vendetta to expose Rachel as a dangerous and incompetent witch. During the course of this book he gathers all the information (and then some) that you can learn from the books, and writes it down in his personal journal as well as his weekly column in the Hollows Gazette. But of course, he's not the only one keeping tabs on troublesome elements. Someone is keeping a watchful eye on Devin as well, and that someone is of course... Trent. In fact, Trent's inter-office memos to Jon (oh, he’d loooooooove to help with the Pandora charm, alright) and Quen (“It is not always what we do, Sa'han, but who we love that makes us who we are”), as well as his correspondence with outside sources, were among my personal favorites. (The guy is a control freak, and foils poor Devin's plans over and over again. No wonder Devin gets a little paranoid.)Over the course of the book, Devin gathers quite a few interesting tidbits of information. Among my favorites were Rachel’s school records (with specific boxes to tick for vampires and Weres – hilarious) her I.S performance record (signed by Denon, oh, poor Rachel), death certificates (cause of death; first AND second), a list of Jenx’s favorite swear words and how often he yells at each of his children. Additionally, there are confidential I.S documents that detail the strengths and weaknesses of each Inderlander species, cook-books (Brimstone cookies, anyone?) Ley Line Textbooks, an interview with Rynn Cormell, DYI charms and a list of demon curses, written by our favorite demon. (One of his comments proves without doubt that he is a demon, alright. Let’s just say that not only is he turned on by Elves and witches, he has a thing for Were-bitches as well, whether they are willing participants… or not… He mentions Ceri a few times in his texts. I would have loved to read his thoughts regarding Rachel as well.)All in all, this was a fun book. I skimmed some of the charm recipes and textbooks, but otherwise this was loads of fun. Loved Devin’s dogged determination. Experiencing Devin’s outrage, paranoia, depression and his joy when things finally seem to go his way, was highly entertaining. But of course, you really shouldn’t mess with the Elves… Quen’s final inter-office memo to Trent, as well as Devin’s last column in the Hollows Gazette, makes that abundantly clear... What didn't I liked about this book. It glows in the dark, it has info about the different species of Cincinnati's underworld. I love Kim Harrison & I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to do when The Hollows ends. I lost several of her books in a cross-country move unfortunately but I'm super proud of the fact that almost all of my books are first editions. More than that, the details we learn specifically about Rachel's spells and her life are really interesting in this and it shows the depths to which Harrison's developed this world.
