About book Fábulas Presenta Jack Vol.4: Americana (2009)
Oh man. What is it that makes Jack so likable and entertaining despite that fact that he's a total jerk? To put it simply, Jack is the human embodiment of a cat. Cats are great because they're kind of wonderful and awful at the same time. That's who Jack is. Jack is never actively antagonistic to anyone who isn't in his way. He doesn't really pick fights and he's not out to ruin anyone's life. He just wants to make his own life better than anyone else's. He's so self centered, but he's also funny and driven and ambitious. When good things happen to him, it's okay, kind of amusing. When bad things happen to him, it's hilariously forthcoming and well deserved. Every once in a while Jack leaves hints that he actually has a heart and it's surprisingly touching. I'm excited to read more. Jack and various others travel to the land of Americana, where all of the American Fables come from, in search of treasure. We are introduced to Mr Burner, the head librarian of Americana, who burns books to destroy the stories but is still a nicer character than Jack even if he does try to kill babe the miniaturized blue ox (as a side effect of killing Paul Bunyan by burning his book). One of the Page sisters gets to kick Jack in the nuts after he reveals he has slept with all 3 of them (this will have major consequences later)
Do You like book Fábulas Presenta Jack Vol.4: Americana (2009)?
The Jack books are certainly worth checking out but for me the original Fables series is better.

Americana is a great new world and full of potential. Also the story of book burner is great.

Jack, while still a good read, is not QUITE as good as the Fables series he has sprung from.
