About book L'ombre De L'épée (2013)

I was a lot happier with this book than I originally thought I would be; the investigation side of things was well done in my opinion, especially since it was dealing with events so far in the past. I loved the magical elements and the different races that were shown, even though there weren't as many as I would've liked. I think my only real complaint is that the declarations of love came too quickly for what interactions I saw between the two MCs; it just didn't really seem like there was a basis for it but hey, that's how the story rolled. I REALLY would've liked an epilogue for this story, something showing what happened once Colin and Septimus returned to England, especially after 'circumstances had changed.' Either way, this was another enjoyable read from Mr. Lanyon. One portion of too stupid to live main character, a dash of love at first sight, hearty amount of book magic - self turning pages are a must, one redhead sea witch with a frickin' awesome sea monster and a few grains of thrush's songs. And here we go!Loved magic system in this universe, where Christianity is a just a religious sect and librarians go the ways of Indiana Jones sans bullwhip, would like to read more. A sequel maybe? With some other characters, preferably.
