Nicholas St. North tells the story of who Santa was before he became a guardian. Before Santa was Santa, he was a bandit that pilfered Russia for its riches and treasures. In a dream he saw a great treasure that took him to Santoff Claussen. A place where he thought he would get rich beyond belief. Instead, he found several friends and a new adventure that would change his life forever. I used this book in an author study on William Joyce. The class was divided into four groups that read the other books in The Guardian of Childhood series. This book (along with the others) was used to deeply discuss character development. ¡Por fin conozco el origen de los guardianes! Este es el primer libro de una trilogía de fantasía como las de antaño, escrita por William Joyce e ilustrada por él mismo. Además de la increíble edición, preciosa, en el libro encontramos una historia de aventura épica/fantástica, donde se realzan los valores más importantes para los más pequeños (y grandes), tales como la amistad, la lealtad, el honor y la valentía. Lo único que no termina de llenarme es que a mí, el género épico/fantástico nunca me ha apasionado y el vocabulario era tremendamente rico, tanto que no sé si un niño pequeño medio pudiera seguir la lectura sin perderse (o ir a consultar a un diccionario). Eso me sacaba de la historia, me desubicaba por lo que me costó vivirla como si fuera mía. Ahora, a por el segundo tomo de la trilogía :)
