WARNING: do not read this book if you have not read the previous books!!While all Her Russian Protector books should absolutely be read in order to fully appreciate the direction of the series, it is even more relevant when you get to Nikolai 2.I take my hat off to the author for the detail and accuracy contained in this story considering it runs parallel to at least four previous books. There are events mentioned in Nikolai 2 that have occurred in both Her Russian Protector series and the Connolly Brothers too; however while the events mentioned from the Connolly Brothers aren’t major spoilers if you haven’t read the books, you will be definitely be confused by many of the references if you aren’t up to date with Her Russian Protectors.With that out of the way, I will tell you that Nikolai 2 is extremely of intense. As head of the Houston branch of the Russian Mob you would expect nothing less, but Nikolai is not all about the seedy side of life; he is a successful legitimate businessman also, and a totally devoted husband. So it is little wonder that when the life of the woman he calls his Sun is threatened, Nikolai will do anything necessary to ensure her safety.To attempt a description of this story would not do it justice, so I will simply say that if you have read the previous stories, you are in for a delight; and if you haven’t, you are denying yourself a phenomenal read!!I can’t recommend Her Russian Protector series highly enough! From a fairly ordinary beginning with dubious heroes and a healthy dose of smut this series has evolved into addictive reading. It gives you the same feeling as watching an episode of Sons of Anarchy, you cringe because of the violence and the very unsavoury elements of crime but the story and the characters reel you in!In Nikolai 2 we see that despite loving each other, there is no Happily Ever After for Houston mob Boss Nikolai Kaslasnikov and his bride, Vivian as secrets from the past and the ongoing everyday violence of the Underworld threaten to tear them apart. Addictive reading!
