About book No Time To Wave Goodbye No Time To Wave Goodbye (2009)

This sequel to The Deep End of the Ocean (which I haven’t read), picks up the story of the Cappodora family 22 years after the kidnapping of Pat & Beth’s younger son, Sam/Ben, almost destroys them. After older son Vincent’s documentary on kidnappings wins an Oscar, Sam/Ben’s 6 month old daughter is kidnapped. This thrusts the entire family back into the spotlight and now it’s a race against time and the elements of nature as they struggle to get Baby Stella back safely. Its weak, disjointed plot, poor dialogue, and weak character development made for a disappointing read. Rushed through this, often skimming over mundane, melancholy filler paragraphs. This book was even worse than "The Deep End of the Ocean," since the only highlight of "Deep End" was its exploration of relationship dynamics, particularly in light of tragedy. Where "No Time" regurgitates the exact same tragedy as "Deep End" (a child is kidnapped and miraculously makes his/her way safely back to the birth family), it lacks character development and is written more as a thriller. A dull, unrealistic, predictable thriller.
