About book The Cradle Will Fall (2015)

Rene SandovalPeriod 6Book Report 2This interesting novel that I read was The Cradle Will Fall, by Mary Higgins Clark. This story was not only a shocking novel, but contains a bit of love and romance. Mary Higgins is known to be supposedly ,“ The Queen of Suspense". After reading this interesting novel I agree with this statement. In this story the author predicts what the outcome will be for the main character Katie DeMaio. It all began with a small incident, which leads her to meet a murder of a doctor that has never been caught for his actions. As I started to read this story I expected it to be a really boring book about murder, except it wasn’t like that. This book was exciting; it was about a young widow prosecutor named Katie DeMaio and how she got in a small car accident, which had her end up in the hospital. The hospital was called West Lake Hospital. It had a doctor who was also a murderer, that was great for curing women that were pregnant. As I continued reading, I came across this interesting crime about Dr. Edgar Highley about killing a 6-month pregnant women and Mrs. DeMaio saw it all happen. The story continues and reveals that Dr.Highley wants to remove the only witness who saw it all happen. The only problem with that is that Mrs. DeMaio doesn't know what she saw was the truth. She later received a case that was said to be a suicide but as she reveals more about the case she starts to notice that it’s more of a murder. Her partner starts to suspect that Dr. Highley is the murderer. Before he could let Mrs. DeMaio know about his suspicions he had missed his chance to speak with her. Katie had left to her surgery that was being done by Dr. Highley and she was really nervous for it.All in all, this sums up most of the story. There’s way more to it, but you have to read to find out more. You will find out if Dr. Highley gets arrested or if he gets away with it. You will also find out if Katie lies or if Dr. Highley ends up killing Katie. Don’t you want to find out the truth?

Spine tingling. This is the first book by M.H. Clark I have had the pleasure of reading, and a pleasure it was. A terrific, headlong rush of murder, deceit, lies and cover-ups, with a brilliant but twisted medical professional at the center, and the prosecutor who is put in danger by him, unaware of how dangerous the man really is, as her collegues start to peel away at the outside, his respectable, brilliant facade, uncovering murder, lies, twists, turns and danger along the way. This book was written in 1980, and with the stunning advances in medical and scientific research we've seen since then, the plot is not some outlandish science-fiction plot, which would explode the book's credibility. It's very beleivable, realistic, and makes the characters more realistic, more fascinatig. I like books that grab me, and pull me into the action, and this book did it!If you are looking for an exciting, involving medical/detective thriller, with lots of twists and turns and danger along the way, this is an excellent read. Once you start it, you'll find it hard to put down!

Do You like book The Cradle Will Fall (2015)?

The Cradle Will Fall, Clark's third novel, was the second and last work of hers that I ever read. I intensely disliked Where Are the Children?, but decided to read one more Clark. At the time, I was in graduate school and had no time and very little money. I spent both on this novel, and was again disturbed and disappointed. Once again, Clark's storyline victimized children and featured yet another weak "heroine." But this novel featured a new twist in brutally murdering the trusting mothers of the victimized children. I hated The Cradle Will Fall even more than I disliked Where Are The Children? I was so disgusted with this novel that I vowed I would never spend another minute or another dime on any of Clark's work. Let other lemmings make her rich. And make her rich, they did!! After all these years, I'm happy I stuck with my decision to banish Mary Higgins Clark from my book shelf.

The cover of this book says "The Terrifying National Bestseller.." Don' believe every thing you read. This was the first Mary Higgins Clark novel I have read and frankly it most likely will be my last. The reason being, I absolutely hate it when authors are repetitive and she repeats thoughts, fears, ect. repeatedly. The book could have been much shorter, much cleaner had she not written repeatedly of Katie Deaio's fear of hospitals or Dr. Highly's plan to kill her in a hospital. Clark's portrayal of blooming love between Katie and Richard Carroll was rather sophmoric and absolutely not needed for the story. The main plot of the story was interesting and the story could have been woven to be much more suspenseful but as it was after awhile I just wanted the book to be over.

Fantastic book by Mary Higgins Clark. It was my first, but it is certainly not my last. ;)The whole plot was very intriguing. Dr. Highley, whom we know is the killer right from the beggining, does crazy experiences with pregnant women, moving fetus from aborting mothers to infertile women treated in his clinic. It was awful, but also marvellous! I would never have remembered that, if I ever wrote a book... (which I'm not).As to Katie DeMaio, her personal dramas with Dr. Richard kept me pretty occupied. You know, 'I just want them to be together' and blah, blah, blah. Anyway, the whole thing got solved, Dr. Highley commited suicide and Katie was saved from bleeding to death. Tatan !If you read the spoilers and didn't want to ... Well, don't blame me for not warning you ! (in the end :P)
