A fun introduction to science fiction for fans of thrillers and spy novels! This is science fiction only in that it revolves around 2 alien space craft and the repercussions of them being found in NM. The cast of characters includes a group of assassins, Native Americans, a trio of teens, a crazy scientist, and the Vice-President of the US. I am currently near the end of book 2 and I still am not sure which ship is the "good" ship in terms of Earth's survival. I really enjoyed this. I like that the teenagers, Heather, Mark, and Jennifer, are not the cliche teenagers obsessed with popularity in high school. What a nice twist for them to get superpowers and then try to better the world around through intellect.It's clear Richard Phillips originally wrote this quite a while ago. The names are a bit outdated, and the editing didn't catch all the anachronisms. There are still references to floppy disks, for example and not enough references to texting, email, and all the alternative ways of communicating. Still, it's an interesting read on how pervasive and how useful alien technology could be.
