A fitting end to Negan. Though many would disagree on me regarding Rick's proposed life imprisonment on the bastard, I have to say that this is just an initial step towards the change he is longing for. Indeed, society can thrive without the need for violence. Yet, on some parts, violence is still needed to achieve an end. Nonetheless, Kirkman has again dazzled his audience with another piece of work concerning the dead. Kudos to Charlie Adlard for bringing the story to life. In Kirkman's war, words outnumber bullets a thousand to one. So much talking! I don't mind a good grandstanding speech, but this volume has several and the majority of the rest of the abundant speech bubbles are mostly dedicated to bland summaries of logistics that don't pan out dramatically when the fighting begins. Negan introduces two new tactics to the playlist -- walker-tainted weapons and armor plated combat cars -- and both are anticlimactic. I guess I was just hoping for something with the impact of the Governer's attack on the prison. Not necessarily tragedy on that order, but surprises. Instead, the threats, farewells and skirmishes we get feel all too familiar. Negan peaked as a villain before the war even began.
