About book Trouble In Texas (2012)

Book #4 in the Deep in the Heart of Texas seriesWhere Branston Cates learns that revenge isn't always what you think you need. He's lived his life believed that the Cates family has been cursed since ancestor William Cates was gunned down in Bramble for a mistake that wasn't his. Turns out that what the family thinks about William's death wasn't true and the events that the family believe were a curse may have really just been bad luck.Small town librarian Elizabeth Murphy has never had much exciting happen in her life until she goes to the Henhouse to see about some trouble brewing since she now the (not-so-proud) new owner. Imagine her surprise when she finds a hot, naked, drugged man handcuffed to Miss Hattie's four-poster bed. These two have both built large solid brick walls up around themselves and it was a good read watching themselves learn how to tear the walls down on the journey to their HEA. The story behind buying this book is kinda funny. I picked it up because it sounded like a great story - an ancient cold case brings a handsome cowboy to an old henhouse (gentleman's club that pampered the men, and not necessarily with sex) and meets some of the hens, both old and new. Sounded great. Then someone's Nook got stolen and Katie Lane's Going Cowboy Crazy was one of the "erotica" stories downloaded by the thief, much to the owner's horror. It went on sale the next day and I nabbed it, but chose to read my paperback first. What a great story. Heartfelt and gutwrenching in parts, I loved Branston Cates and his fears of loss, especially when it came to his younger brother Beauregard. I also loved Elizabeth Murphy. She starts out as the stereotypical librarian, but there's so much more to her as the story progresses, and she has more family than she ever knew existed. This is a hot and sexy tale, but it's also a sweet one, one that will make you fall in love with the Cates clan and cheer and grieve for all that befalls them. I'm looking forward to Going Cowboy Crazy, and all the other Cates family tales. Nicely done, Ms. Lane.
