About book Tante Dimity Und Das Verhexte Haus (2011)

Now that he has retired, Lori Shepherd's father-in-law is moving to the little village of Finch to be closer to his grandsons. As the story begins, he has just finished refurbishing an old home and is preparing to settle in to a quiet life. However, Finch is rarely a quiet place and soon he finds himself caught up in the "greatest act of deception ever perpetrated on the good people of Finch." Meanwhile, Lori suspects that something isn't right with the charming couple that Willis, Sr. has hired to act as housekeeper and gardener. As always, Dimity is on hand to offer her thoughts.Quite a pleasant story. There is no murder mystery to solve, but instead there are mysterious happenings and the theft of a historical family tree. I love the fact that Atherton's stories are entertainingly mysterious, not highly suspenseful, sitting on the edge of my seat, kinds of stories. The tales of village life are simply hysterical. Have read this series since it's inception, m-m-m-m-m, perhaps I'm getting tired of the story line, don't know. That Lori needs to light a fire in the study hearth, pet the stuffed toy Reginald on the head and then sit down to "talk" with Aunt Dimity every night, through all the seasons of the year, is getting a bit repetitive. Perhaps if someone else in the "know" could do the communicating with Auntie it might be an interesting twist. Still, easy and quick reading and now comes with a recipe at the end. Will probably continue reading the series. I'd like to see if the twins grow up and if Lori and Bill ever increase the size of their family. Does Bill's dad ever remarry and what about the enigma of Nell? What's that about?

A very sweet book. Kind of like Nancy Drew in a way. I will definitely read more of them.
