About book Tante Dimity Und Die Dorfhexe (2013)

#17 in the Aunt Dimity mystery series. American Lori Shepard lives with her American husband and family in the small Cotswold village of Finch. Aunt Dimity is a ghost who Lori can communicate with and helps her solve mysteries. This mystery involves a famous artist who settles in Finch on a quest to find the several pages of a letter about a 16th century village witch living in Finch that have been hidden around the town. The artist has become a cult figure constantly bothered by groupies. For years, I have wondered what the appeal of the Aunt Dimity series held for readers. While working in a local library, many people, men and women, recommended Atherton as an author to read. These recommendations came with statements like, “it’s a good clean mystery series,” or “these are mysteries with a lot of history included,” or something similar. So, I decided to give this title a try.I was pleasantly surprised with the way the author laid out the story. The flow of the text is fast enough to keep the reader interested and yet gives much detail and description of people, places, and events. This is a series that I think I will enjoy catching up by reading the previous titles. There are some paranormal elements that provide background and give insight into the main character, Lori Shepherd. Aunt Dimity is of course Lori’s now deceased ancestor who “talks” to Lori by writing in a journal to discuss situations and offer advice.Overall, this was a pleasant and enjoyable book.
