I chose to read this series because months after reading game of thrones I needed another great fantasy series to sate my needs. This book while not on the same level as GRRM was still very good. The best way to describe it was just pure fun! It was just a great book with fun adventure and characters that you just wanted to root for and hold on as the exciting plot moved you forward on a wave of adventure. Woot! (yes the cheesiness was intended) 3.75 I don't want to rate this one too harshly because I know much of my disappointment was due to the narrator of the audiobook. It could have been so much better. Still, it was a little on the vanilla side from how I usually like my fantasies. It has inspired me to open a new shelf: good, but meh. There are plenty of books a read that are technically good and I can't point to anything specific wrong with them, but they just don't do it for me. I was unmoved. So, even though the book was better than average, my overall feeling... meh.
