About book Percepliquis (2012)

This was a great finish to a series that only got stronger as it progressed. What at first seems like a two-buddies-against-the-world story really evolves into much more. Action never strays from the two main characters for long, but supporting characters are fleshed out nicely and, looking back, it doesn't feel like there was much filler over the course of the 6 books. You want action and great fight scenes? Check. Quests and adventure? Yep. Betrayals, plot twists? Sure. A little grey area between right and wrong? You bet. Whatever you are looking for, it's probably there. But what makes it all work is a well thought out story and good story telling. If you are a fan of the genre, I can't recommend the series enough! And ... done!6 book long RR saga is over, read or rather "devoured". Sounds like a perfect time for a summary - not just the "Percepliquis" but whole cycle's as well. It's good, surprisingly good for pretty much unknown author. It starts in a very "picaresque" way, packed with action and equipped with a straightforward (limited number of threads) but satisfying plot (not forgetting a nice twist). Than it tries to evolve into something more - a full-fledged saga with more complex story and plenty of characters and ... it succeeds as well, with a pain, but it does. So, does it finish with a style? Did author manage to conclude all the threads in a way that won't cause the reader cursing his name forever? Well, it's better than the average I think. It could be much, much worse. The "revealing" part (when all the mysteries and unknowns get clarified) is done really well and it's "realistic" (as realistic as it can be in fantasy book) - it means that you don't get a feeling that author has cornered himself so he had to come up with totally ridiculous solution to fix situation up.But ... somehow the ending lacks its "epicness". Not only in terms of scale and "spectacularity", but also - there's nothing really memorable: no action worth remembering, no big surprise, nothing really unconventional. What a shame. But still - RR was worth both the time and money spent on. Good fantasy - recommended.
